The Quiet File (“we”, “us”) publishes this website at thequietfile.net. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It is written so the site can run Facebook, Instagram, Google, and similar ads.

What this site is
This is an editorial landing page for one article. We do not run a shop, take payments, or require an account.
Information we collect
Information you type: If you use the comments box, that text is stored only in your browser (local storage). It is not sent to our server.
Technical data: Our hosting provider may receive your IP address, browser type, device type, language, referring URL, pages viewed, and timestamps. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure, and diagnose errors.
Consent choice: We store a cookie/local-storage value that records whether you accepted or rejected optional ads cookies.
Advertising and measurement data: Only if you click “Accept all.” Then Facebook, Google, or similar partners may collect device identifiers, cookie IDs, pages viewed, and ad interaction data to measure campaigns, limit fraud, and (where allowed) show relevant ads. Their policies apply to that data.
We do not ask for your name, phone number, government ID, or payment card. We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data through forms.
Why we use it
To operate the website; to remember cookie choices; to measure ads if you consent; to respond if you email us; and to comply with law. Legal bases under GDPR, where it applies: legitimate interests (running a public website), consent (optional ads cookies), and legal obligation (if a request or claim requires a record).

We do not sell your data
We do not sell personal information. If a US state law treats some ads sharing as a “sale” or “share,” you can opt out by using Reject optional on the cookie banner, or by emailing privacy@thequietfile.net with the subject “Do not sell or share.”
Children
This site is aimed at adults. It is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where that is the local digital-consent age). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may ask us to access, correct, delete, or export personal data we hold, or to object to certain processing. Email privacy@thequietfile.net. We may need to verify the request. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Facebook users: you can request deletion of data obtained through our ads tools by emailing the same address with the subject “Facebook data deletion.”
How long we keep it
Hosting logs are kept only as long as the host needs for security and operations. Cookie consent is kept until you change it or clear your browser. Emails you send us are kept long enough to answer and to handle any legal follow-up.
International transfers
If ads partners or hosting are outside your country, data may be processed in the United States or other locations under those companies’ safeguards.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after an update means the new policy applies to later visits.
